Common Questions

  • Pachamama Journeys are unique travel experiences. They are facilitated journeys where the travel intention includes a deeper immersion in the culture and life of the Amazon people, as well as time for disconnection in nature. Our Journeys are also learning experiences led by experts, who will show you and share with you about indigenous life and biodiversity conservation in the Amazon Rainforest. Pachamama Journeys are also an opportunity for individual and collective discovery, allowing you to contribute directly and become part of a network of people committed to protecting the Amazon and the environment.

  • Our Journeys are small group experiences, that include uncommon authenticity, where you will immerse into the indigenous way of life in the Amazon, in truly remote and rich natural settings. Our Journeys also facilitate profound discovery through indigenous rituals that facilitate moments of clarity and inspire personal awakening.

  • The best time to travel to the Amazon Rainforest goes from June to early December. March, April, and May are usually rainy-season months.

  • The Amazon is beautiful year-round, and Pachamama Journeys run in every season. Most travelers plan their journey 3–12 months in advance, depending on availability and group size. If you’re hoping to travel sooner, we can help you explore the next open dates. You can find upcoming journey dates and details here.

  • You’re welcome to travel solo, with a partner, or as part of a family or small group. We also support custom private groups. During your orientation call, we’ll help you choose the journey that best fits your group size and interests.

  • Most journeys range within a set per-person program fee, which covers lodging, in-country transportation, meals, guides, and all rainforest logistics. International airfare and personal spending are separate. We’ll walk you through exact pricing, dates, and what’s included during your orientation call.

  • Our journeys take you deep into remote rainforest territory hosted by Indigenous communities. You can expect community, comfortable accommodations, boat travel, time in nature, and limited connectivity. Many travelers find this immersion to be one of the most meaningful aspects of the experience.

  • We have been running Pachamama Journeys since 1996, and over time we have developed significant knowledge and experience in guaranteeing unforgettable and safe travel experiences in Ecuador and in the Amazon Rainforest. Our Journeys are adventurous in nature, because we travel deep into the Amazon Rainforest of Ecuador, flying in small planes, but overall include soft adventure activities for everyone.
